Iran

The Iran national football team, Team Melli, is governed by the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) and competes in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The team plays home matches at Azadi Stadium in Tehran and wears white and red.

Iran is the most decorated national team in AFC history, winning the AFC Asian Cup three times (1968, 1972, 1976). Team Melli has appeared at six FIFA World Cups, most recently at Qatar 2022 where they finished third in their group. The team has produced top European league players and has been a consistent qualifier for major tournaments.
