About Senegal
The Senegal national football team, the Lions of Teranga, is governed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and competes in CAF. The team plays home matches at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar and wears white and green.
Senegal's greatest achievement came at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals in their debut — defeating defending champions France in the opening match. At the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (played in 2022), Senegal won their first continental title, defeating Egypt on penalties. Star striker Sadio Mané has been the team's talisman. Senegal reached the round of 16 at Qatar 2022.
